VetCV Community Events – Free Veterans Financial Literacy Program

Saturday, December 9ᵗʰ – 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM CST
Offices of Clark Partington — Attorneys at Law
125 East Intendencia Street, 4th Floor,
Pensacola Beach, FL

TeamVetCV is excited to tell you about this important opportunity for Veterans and their families to improve their understanding of their finances.

The Business Law Section of the Florida Bar is holding an event on December 9, 2023 in conjunction with the Northern District of Florida Bankruptcy Bar Association and other local community organizations to provide financial literacy and other legal assistance for military veterans and active members of the military.

Counselors will be on-site to discuss various aspects of financial management and identify legal issues local veterans and active military may have to make educated financial decisions and help avoid pitfalls.

The in-person event is free of charge and scheduled from 9:30 AM until 12:30 PM. This event will be hosted by Clark Partington at their law offices located at 125 East Intendencia Street, 4th Floor, Pensacola, Florida 32502.

The Veterans Financial Literacy Program is very near and dear to Clark Partington Attorneys at Law, as well to the hearts of the counselors participating.

“When you are born and raised in Pensacola, from an early age you are taught to respect and honor the service given by the men and women of the United States military,” said Doug Bates, one of the organizing attorneys providing pro bono services on December 9th. “Our financial literacy education program for veterans is one way that I can give back to the veterans who have given my family so much.”

All attorneys, military veterans, and active military are encouraged to participate and we look forward to seeing everyone there! Please register online by using the “Register Here” button below or going to https://www.ndflbba.com/events/veterans-financial-literacy-program. VetCV Partners with Provider Network Beyond Med to Increase Access to Health and Wellness Services for Veterans Not Typically Covered by VA, TRICARE, or Insurance

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Pensacola, Fla. (August 8, 2023) VetCV has announced its partnership with Beyond Med, a health and wellness plan that provides members discounts on procedures that are not usually covered by insurance or offered through Military Treatment Facilities, VA medical facilities, or standard civilian insurance. Beyond Med’s low-cost subscription model allows patients to receive an average discount of 20% on self-pay procedures from their network of providers. VetCV also leverages Beyond Med’s unique position to increase access to health and wellness treatments for Veterans and their families by offering a 10% discount on their Beyond Med subscription.

Research shows that cosmetic and elective services are set to outpace traditional healthcare spending by a factor of three over the next 10 years. Despite this, many elective wellness and cosmetic procedures are not covered by most insurance and healthcare plans, including TRICARE or VA. While VA has greatly expanded the services it offers to veterans in recent years, it is understandably more focused on providing treatments that are medically necessary. The demand exists for these services, however, and the Veteran community is no exception.

“These are procedures that many people would like to do, but it doesn’t always make financial sense when they have the opportunity,” said VetCV Founder and CEO Niels Andersen. “Once we’re confident that a Veteran’s urgent and preventative medical needs are taken care of, we want to ensure that they feel good as well. That’s where wellness services come in. The goal of our partnership with Beyond Med is to break down the financial barriers to the services that can help Military, Veterans, and their families look and feel good too.”

Visit https://vetcv.com/beyond-med.html to learn more.

VA Announces Over 40,000 Homeless Veterans Placed in Permanent Housing in 2022

The Department of Veterans Affairs reported that it had beaten its 2022 goal of housing 38,000 homeless Veterans by 2,400.

In a recent post on LinkedIn, VA’s Under Secretary for Health Shereef Elnahal congratulated Executive Director of VA’s Homeless Programs Office Monica Diaz alongside other VA representatives working to combat Veteran homelessness:

Some analysts and officials have attributed this success to HUD-VASH, a collaborative housing program between VA and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Under HUD-VASH, eligible veterans may receive a voucher that can be used to pay a portion of their monthly rent. This is indicative of the broader shift toward a philosophy of “housing-first,” along with increased funding and case management, when addressing homelessness.

Many are hopeful that these numbers from last year mark a decisive turning point in Veteran homelessness. Despite an approximate 50% reduction in the overall number of homeless Veterans since 2009, there are still an estimated 40,056 unhoused Veterans on any given night according to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans. Furthermore, over 80,000 Veterans will experience homelessness over the course of a year. While only about 7% of the U.S. population are Veterans, they account for nearly 13% of the population of homeless adults.

These worrying statistics demonstrate that, despite the promising results of last year’s efforts, there is still much work to be done. However, VA and other service organizations have shown no signs of relenting. VA officials have affirmed as much, with Ms. Diaz quoted as saying, “If there is even one [homeless Veteran], I say we need to do more.”

In keeping with the work being done to combat Veteran homelessness alongside our efforts to support Veterans and their families in every chapter of their lives, TeamVetCV has added a section dedicated to housing in the Resource Library. There, we have assembled tools, tips, and trusted resources for those in need of permanent housing, renters, home buyers, and anything Veterans and their families may need involving housing.
