September 11th, – Patriot Day 2025

Today, we pause to remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001. We honor the lives lost, the bravery of first responders, and the resilience of our nation in the face of adversity. As we reflect on this day, let us hold close the values of unity, compassion, and service that emerged in the aftermath. May we never forget the sacrifices made and continue to support one another with the strength that defines us.

Respectfully,

TeamVetCV

Veteran Entrepreneurs – How to Grow Your Customer Base

Why itโ€™s Important to Correctly Identify Your Target Audience

As veteran entrepreneurs ourselves, TeamVetCV knows how important it is for a business to understand their target audience when attracting and retaining customers. Many, however, will struggle to define their target audience and communicate that to their teams. Identifying your target audience is a necessary step toward sustainable growth. Sustainable is the key word here; because you donโ€™t just want any customers, a business with healthy growth attracts their ideal customers. When looking to grow a small business, understanding which clients will lead to profitable exchanges is key to identifying your target audience.

Who is Your Ideal Client?

Identifying your target audience requires a self-assessment of your business alongside some research. As well as understanding your product and location, a few questions you may want to ask can include:

  • What are you doing now to attract customers? How well is that working?
  • What are your businessโ€™ current capabilities and reach?
  • What demographics do your current clients belong to?
    • E.g., Are most of your customers business owners? Are you mostly serving families? How many of your clients are veterans?
  • Of those demographics, how many utilize or purchase your products/services with the highest margins?
  • Where do those demographics overlap with other communities or groups?
    • E.g., If your top demographic consists of veterans, you may want to look into veterans’ organizations or communities with a high veteran population. If you primarily serve young families, you can research online groups for new parents.

These are just examples, but this is a good place to start identifying your target audience. You may also want to utilize analytic tools such a Google analytics or Meta Business Suite to understand who is viewing your online marketing campaigns, where they are coming from, and how often that translates into them becoming a customer. You will also want to compile this information into a document, spreadsheet, or matrix in order to easily identify any changes in your audience and what might be causing them.

Identifying and reaching your target audience is a complex process and will take a bit of effort. These suggestions can help you get started, but you may need to do further reading to learn specific methods for growing your audience. TeamVetCV has tons of resources, tools, and partner organizations that can help you grow your business.

VetCV Stands Strong With Chairman Bostโ€™s Veteransโ€™ ACCESS Act of 2025

At VetCV, weโ€™re proud to help champion the Veteransโ€™ ACCESS Act of 2025, a vital step to secure timely, quality healthcare for veterans, led by Chairman of the House Committee on Veteransโ€™ Affairs Rep. Mike Bost. The VA healthcare system serves around 7 million veterans annually. However, in 2014, investigations conducted by Congress and the VA Office of the Inspector General revealed severe delays in patients receiving care from VA, leading to an ongoing revolution in efficiency and access to healthcare for veterans which VetCV has been part of since its beginning.

A Brief History of Our Involvement in Expanding Access to Care for Veterans

In 2007, in a proactive effort to expand access to care, VA initiated Project HERO, a pilot in six of the 21 Veterans Integrated Service Networks (VISNs), where Humana Veterans Healthcare Services (HVHS)โ€”alongside VetCV sister company VeritasHealthCare (VHC) as a first-tier subcontractorโ€”expanding care by creating a network of over 46,000 community providers. This gave VHC and VetCV leadership deep insight into this model, particularly in building networks of community providers that veteran patients can access, managing claims processing, and facilitating timely coordination of care. Project HEROโ€™s success led to the Veterans Choice Program in 2014, offering nationwide access to private care for veterans facing long waits or travel burdens. This further evolved into the VA MISSION Act of 2018, rolled out fully by 2019, establishing permanent access standards and broader community care options across all VISNs.

VetCV: Born Out of a Commitment to the Needs of the Veteran Community

VetCV CEO Niels Andersen and Rep. Jeff Miller at Veterans Memorial Park Pensacola.
VetCV CEO Niels Andersen and Rep. Jeff Miller at Veterans Memorial Park Pensacola.

In 2013, due to the work on Project HERO, VeritasHealthCare CEO Niels Andersen met with Chairman Bost’s predecessor, then Chairman of the House Committee on Veteransโ€™ Affairs Rep. Jeff Miller and his staff regarding an initiative to inaugurate honor flights in Northwest Florida. Over time, their discussions naturally broadened to include veterans’ barriers to accessing VA healthcare as well as other critical life challenges they face. Inspired by these exchanges, Niels began envisioning how he and his team could leverage technology to address these multifaceted problems for veterans and their families, planting the seed that would eventually grow into VetCV.

Shortly thereafter, Niels and his team began work creating VetCV as a technology platform focused on the specific needs of the veteran community. The goals of this project were to allow veterans to gain control over vital military and VA records, help them prepare for a successful transition to civilian life, and build innovative solutions combating the growing issue of suicide among veterans and active duty service members. To achieve this, his team created an all-in-one App designed to help veterans navigate these challenges while providing quick and easy access to trusted tools and resources they need. The culmination of these ideas became VetCV, which was launched in 2017.

Recent Trends and Future Work to Be Done

Despite the progress made by the VA MISSION Act and its predecessors, recent VA trends suggest a reduction in approving authorizations for veterans to access community care. This has unfortunately inhibited veteransโ€™ ability to receive timely services outside of VA facilities. And, because a challenge for veterans is a challenge for us, TeamVetCV is working tirelessly to provide solutions and support initiatives improving the lives of veterans, such as the ACCESS Act.

The Veteransโ€™ ACCESS Act of 2025 will lock in access standards, prevent wait-time manipulation, and establish urgent residential substance abuse and mental health treatment standards. VetCV supports this bill because community care is VA care, and veterans deserve transparency, choice, and life-saving supportโ€”all without delay.

The team at VetCV also wants to recognize the hard-working men and women at VA who strive to provide phenomenal care every day to our nation’s veterans. The Department of Veterans Affairs is integral to the sacred oath of the United States of America to support our nation’s warfighters after sacrificing their precious time, health, and lives in her service. Our commitment to improving the lives of veterans necessitates a commitment to improving VA by holding it to the highest of standards while supporting it in every way we can. That is what we are doing here.

We ask you to join us in supporting this bill. If you want to share your own story about problems you have experienced with timely access to care, click here to send us a short note and weโ€™ll be sure to share your story with the committee.
